Q: Why does Bahrain need BFH?
1. Bahrain does not have a focused Financial District. There is
limited physical space in Manama for the continued growth of
the financial sector, in addition to the increase in congestion.
This has resulted in scattering financial institutions away from
one another, effectively fragmenting the financial district.
BFH was created to assemble the financial institutions in the
country in one focal area, thereby creating a unique business
address.
2. BFH has integrated the under utilized Bahraini waters, which
have remained largely hidden from the public as decades of development
have moved the urban centres away from the shoreline.
3. Due to increased regional demand, there has been a steady rise
in real estate prices.

needs of regional and international financial institutions.
Q: How will the development effect Bahrain’s
GDP?
- The current contribution of the financial co-operation sector to
the GDP stands at 19.7%. Once the development is completed, economists
project that the sector’s contribution to the GDP will further
grow larger. Additionally, BFH will also be both directly and
indirectly responsible for positively contributing to the national
GDP through enhanced FDI and a ripple economic effect created through
higher job creation and economic value addition.
