BFH Financial Centre formal opening ceremony scheduled for 2 May 2007: Event to host over 350 distinguished global banking professionals

Manama, Bahrain, 14 April 2007: Marking yet another milestone in the Middle East’s rapidly evolving financial markets, the Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company (BFHHC) today announced that the formal opening ceremony for Phase I of the landmark Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH), ‘The Financial Centre’, will be on 2 May 2007.
The company further announced that the formal opening ceremony of BFH Phase I would be through a specially designed day long event titled ‘Enterprising Bahrain’ that will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Commenting on the formal opening of the Financial Centre, Mr Esam Janahi, Chairman, BFH, said: “Over the last couple of years the financial markets in the Middle East have been undergoing a major change, rapidly emerging as one of the fastest growing markets globally. BFH was conceived with the aim of providing the region with its first fully-integrated Financial District positively contributing towards enhancing the reputation of the Kingdom of Bahrain as the financial capital of the Middle East.
“Furthermore, BFH is a much awaited financial sector focused real estate development aimed at bringing the entire vertical section of the region's financial industry under one canopy. It thus gives me immense pleasure to announce that the formal opening ceremony for Phase I of BFH will be on 2 May 2007 through a day long specially designed event titled ‘Enterprising Bahrain’. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the leadership and the Government of Bahrain for all the support that they have extended towards this project, and am confident of their continued support in the future as well,” Mr. Janahi added.
Significantly, Enterprising Bahrain will also include a high profile conference titled ‘Middle East Financial Services Summit’ and a specially themed evening event, where it will host 350 of the world’s leading Banking industry professionals in addition to other local, regional and international dignitaries.
Elaborating on Enterprising Bahrain, Mr. Stephen Rothel, Chief Executive Officer, BFH, said: “The key highlights of Enterprising Bahrain namely the BFH- FT Banking Conference and the themed evening event have been designed to ensure that this milestone occasion is a memorable moment for the entire industry as a whole. Adding to the significance of this event is the fact that in addition to hosting over 350 of the world’s leading Banking professionals, in association with the Bahrain Financial Services Development (part of Bahrain EDB), the event also highlights the growing reputation of Bahrain as an International Financial Hub.”
The Financial Centre consists of the stunning Harbour Towers and Harbour Mall. The Harbour Towers will provide prime office and commercial space for the financial services industry while the Harbour Mall will house high quality retail outlets and cafes, other leisure facilities as well brokerage and trading firms.
