o Forum to be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force
Manama, Bahrain, 3rd December 2007: Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company (BFHHC) today announced its participation in the US-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Investment Forum, which will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force, as Gold Sponsor. The forum will be held from Tuesday, December 04, 2007 - Wednesday, December 05, 2007 at Diplomat Hotel, Manama, Bahrain.
Commenting on BFH's participation, Mr. Stephen Rothel, Chief Executive Officer, BFHHC, said: "With the combined bilateral trade between the U.S. and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in 2006 being more that $62 billion, the potential in the near future to enhance this figure is enormous, especially with the recently signed FTA between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the U.S. As per industry sources, the GCC economies are forecast to grow at 5.8 per cent in 2008 which is a healthy sign. At such a juncture, a medium like the US-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Investment Forum is very significant to discuss the current investment opportunities and various investment ventures."
"Furthermore, BFH's participation at such a platform will be apt, with the project playing an integral role in attracting inward investment while simultaneously contributing to the socio-economic development of the nation." Mr. Rothel added.
The Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Bahrain Economic Development Board, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, AmCham Bahrain, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Arab Bankers Association of North America (ABANA) have partnered to develop a two-day program that provides practical information for investors considering deploying capital both in the U.S. and in the GCC. To that end, the Forum will bring together U.S. and GCC investors, senior government leaders, and central and private bankers to discuss issues like: the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), GCC customs and monetary harmonization, private equity and deal flow, and Islamic finance.
